Have a low carbon holiday at The Beach!
This summer Oxford Castle Quarter invites you to spend the summer making footprints in the sand!
The return of Oxford?s only beach to Oxford Castle Quarter this year will be music to the ears of many. Thirty-two tonnes of sand, palm trees, deckchairs, volleyball nets, peep boards, and cocktail umbrellas will all be making another welcome appearance within the stunning and historic site of Oxford?s former gaol and prison.
There will be BBQ?s, tapas, cocktails, parties, beach games, sunbathing, competitions, and much more as everyone at Oxford Castle Quarter gets ready for another scorcher of a summer
The Beach is a perfect way to celebrate the Low Carbon Oxford Week. Using natural and locally supplied materials, The Beach is an environmentally friendly location throughout its entire duration. At the end of the summer, all of these materials are either saved to be used the following year, recycled, or donated to other organisations. In 2013 thirty tonnes of sand was donated to South Hinksey Golf Club by Oxford Castle Quarter.
