Greening Up The Abbey Sutton Courtenay – Keeping the Heat in Our Historic House!
The Abbey Sutton Courtenay is a glorious grade 1 listed Medieval Manor surrounded by 4 acres of wildlife-rich woods, productive walled garden and grassland just south of Abingdon.
Join with us on a guided tour of the House and Gardens with Richard Oxley, conservation architect and specialist in retrofitting historic buildings to see what we’ve been up to. And what our next steps are!
This coming year the charity which stewards The Abbey as a retreat and conference centre will turn 40. As we mark this anniversary, our thoughts turn not only to the past and all the restoration work achieved since 1979 but also to the future and the needs of the building and those who will live here for the next 40 years. In so doing we are redoubling our efforts to Keep the Heat In our historic building and guesthouse.
We’ve been supported by Trust for Oxfordshire’s Environment (TOE) and Low Carbon Hub to institute a number of low and medium cost measures to make our hard-to-treat buildings warmer and cosier.
Home made tea and cake on sale. All proceeds support restoration at The Abbey.
