‘Planning as if the climate mattered’
Oxfordshire councils are to develop a ‘Joint Spatial Plan’ – a spatial development strategy. The intention is to provide “a tool for considering the future growth of the County in a more coherent, coordinated, long term way than is possible through separate Local Plans, Local Transport Plans and the OxLEP SEP”. This will be subject to public consultation as a requirement for it becoming a Development Plan Document (DPD).
Oxfordshire Friends of the Earth and others want this new document to include a clear commitment that the future development of Oxfordshire is done in a way that reduces our emissions and helps deliver on national climate targets.
This seminar will bring together planners, environment and amenity groups and academics to discuss how climate targets and environmental goals can be integrated into this new strategy and related documents.
