Mini Foraging Course

Foraging Walk Oxford

There is an abundance of edible plants and mushrooms that grow in the UK and knowing what you can and cannot eat from your local woods will enhance your walks and your diet. On this course you’ll learn how to safely identify and sustainably collect some the seasonal wild food growing around us. Whether your interest is finding food for free or simply enjoying and learning about nature, this walk is ideal.

We will meet in front of Oxford Brookes Sports Centre on Headington Campus at 12pm for a short introductory foraging walk.

We’ll discuss what to look for, rules to ensure picking is safe and sustainable and how to identify a few different edible and poisonous plants, flowers, fruits and mushrooms that we find.

After the walk we will email you details of all the plants and mushrooms we have found to help you remember what you have learnt.

This course is being kindly subsidised by Oxford Brookes University Sustainability team making it 50% the normal price. Parking in the local area is extremely limited with none at the University. Active travel or public transport is convenient with a nearby bus stop and bike racks.
