ACC Meet & Talk: Custom Splitting Houses
Join Abingdon Carbon Cutters for their monthly meeting and hear from guest speaker Daniel Scharf, introducing custom house splitting.
Custom-builders join the downsizers to make housing more efficient: Daniel Scharf will introduce the practice of custom splitting. The idea is to partner some of the 7 million households wanting to downsize with those wanting to custom build, in splitting larger properties into smaller ones and improving energy efficiency and disabled access. Some custom builders are waiting on statutory registers to be provided with a serviced plot and some elderly households would prefer to downsize in place.
Daniel has had over 40 years experience as a town planner in public,
private and voluntary sectors and in training lawyers and teaching at
Oxford University Continuing Education. He writes about planning and
